About this site

This web site was made possible and designed by Paul Erskine, a friend of Kelley Anne and James'. He, like so many others, felt the need to reach out and help in some way after Kelley Anne had her accident Nov. 16. The result is a site where all of us can read daily updates about Kelley Anne's condition, share our thoughts and prayers for Kelley Anne and feel a little less helpless than this situation has made us feel at times.

Kelley Anne drove off the road Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 16, and hit a tree on the west side of Alhambra Ave, in Martinez, while on her way home from work in San Francisco. A motorist traveling behind Kelley Anne witnessed the crash, called police and facilitated her recovery process. She was airlifted to John Muir Hospital after firemen and paramedics spent approximately 30 minutes extricating her from the 1987 Volvo station wagon she had been driving that day.

She was admitted to the emergency room and then transferred to the intensive care unit (I.C.U.). She underwent the first of many expected surgeries for her extensive injuries the night of her accident. She is expected to be in the I.C.U. for "weeks," according to her doctors and nurses. Her primary doctors say they are hopeful that Kelley Anne can make a full recovery. However, they caution that she is in "very, very critical condition" and no definitive assurances can be made at such an early juncture. Doctors, nurses, tow truck drivers, everyone involved, say Kelley Anne suffered the worst accident, based on the damage to her car, that they have seen in which someone survived.

The outpouring of support, warmth and love has been overwhelming for James, as well as his and Kelley Anne's families. She no doubt feels that support, warmth and love from all of us. Still, in her current state there is no way she can grasp the depth of devotion, selflessness and sacrifice being made in her honor on a daily basis. It is our express intent to try to capture some of that by providing a forum for people all over the world – yes, her friendships transcend America’s shores – to "speak" to Kelley Anne whenever they feel the need or desire. So, please, feel free to let Kelley Anne know how you feel, and one day soon, God willing, she will be in a position to read everything and know that her valiant efforts to overcome such a traumatic experience were cheered on by those who adore her for the beautiful person she is inside and out.

The families of James and Kelley Anne have been humbled by the response, actions and words from those who know them or simply know a member of their families. There aren't appropriate words for the families to properly express their heartfelt gratitude to every one of you. However, they want you to know that nothing that has transpired since Kelley Anne's accident has gone unnoticed, unappreciated or unremarked upon. They thank you for everything and ask for your continued prayers and positive thoughts. God has blessed Kelley Anne with a wonderful family, friends and acquaintances. Most important, He has blessed her with the strength to overcome this awesome burden. Her mere survival is proof that she can recover from her injuries and return to being the loving daughter, sister, wife and friend that so many of us are fortunate enough to call ourselves.

We Love You, Kelley Anne
